Juvenile Justice and the Law CRI7333

This course will explore the social and historical evolution of the juvenile justice system in the US, including the legal and policy justifications for having a separate system for young people, whether this division continues to make sense today, and the race equity impact and implications. This course will also explore contemporary alternatives to the more traditional juvenile justice responses to include the use of restorative practices.
